Given it is an election year and how it has been prominently discussed candidates in Republican and Democrat primary and convention debate, it is likely you have heard of “Project 2025.” If you have not, Project 2025 aims to promote conservative-leaning policies aligned with its sponsor – the Heritage Foundation - to reshape the federal government should Donald Trump win back the White House this year. One headline grabbing component of the plan would consolidate executive power by recasting thousands of civil service workers as political appointees, or those loyal to the new president.
The Project 2025 document itself is more than a thousand pages in length and an assemblage of policy papers written by more than 200 conservative organizations within the orbit of the Heritage Foundation. Some of the more recognizable organizations that contributed to the initiative were Citizens Against Government Waste and Mothers for Liberty.
Proponents of the initiative believe the policies would help hold the federal government – particularly the executive branch – more accountable to the people. Opponents claim the proposals represent a leap towards authoritarianism, contending it would undermine the rule of law and blur separation of powers outlined in the Constitution.
And then there is the section about real estate appraisal and appraisal regulations.
Wait, what…?
